Liberty London
ÁLVAREZ GÓMEZ – Alvarez Gomez – started by three cousins and still family-owned today – and its signature scent Agua de Colonia are icons not just of Spanish perfumery but of Spanish culture. An uplifting blend of lemon, bergamot, lavender and geranium, the fragrance was a hit when it was created in 1912 and remains a hit today. But Alvarez Gomez is not content to rest on its laurels and continues to create perfumes using the best ingredients from across Spain.
AVOCA – An Irish Institution, Avoca has been making its famous throws at the same mill outside Wieklow’s Avoca village since 1823. Hand woven from 100% natural fibers – lambswools and mohairs, cashmeres and cottons – the throws and their vibrant colorways have become much-loved around the world for their softness, their lively style and their quality. Our mill in Avoca village was originally set up as cooperative in 1723. Here, local farmers could grind their corn and spin and weave their wool for clothing for the local miners. Times were tough in rural Ireland and it was soon a vital local resource. At first, only uncolored yarn was used in tweed for clothing and blankets for beds. Later though, color came to the valleys as natural vegetable dyes in reds, greens and yellows began to be used. These were soon recognized as Avoca’s signature hues. Today, we have 12 locations across the country. After all this time, the ethos of Avoca remains the same. We cherish our time-honored traditions, which have been lovingly passed down through several generations. Today, there are third generation weavers working at the Mill. Our skills might be steeped in a long and rich tradition, but our attitude is to look to the future. Now heralded as one of Ireland’s most exciting retail stores, there are Avoca ceramics, clothing, perfumes, soaps and more from our own design studio. We have a host of award winning cafes and restaurants, food markets crammed with artisanal ingredients from near and far, as well as best-selling range of Avoca cookbooks. There are also gardens to explore at many of our stores, as well as florists and garden centers. The list goes on. And all of this from a modest hand weaving mill, established in a rural Irish village in 1723.
AVENIDA HOME – Taking inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, early 20th century Swedish design, woodland creatures and sundry other sources, family-run brand Avenida Home brings a vibrant splash of whimsy to the home ware market. Working with artists, illustrators and its own designers, the company designs all of its products in its busy Bath studio and makes them in small, family-owned factories across Europe and the UK. It’s exactly what Isabel Saiz had in mind when she founded her business in 2010. Her dream was to bring “:new and unexpected designs, beauty and quality to home accessories.” Previously Head of Marketing at Farrow & Ball, Isabel has been in charge of the National Trust Home Collection and Delicious Art at the National Gallery, London .She is also a proud winner of the International Design Effectiveness Awards. Isabel also works with exceptional artists and designers to create Avenida’s exclusive pieces. This means a design might start out as a painting or as an illustration, before adorning a unique piece of homeware. Each individual item is then crafted with the best quality materials to reflect the original piece of art and to maximize its functionality. The results are always beautiful, practical pieces that can be used and enjoyed for a long time. ATELIER VM – Founded in 1998 by Marta Caffarelli and Viola Naj-Oleari, Atelier VM is an Italian brand that challenges the conception of fine jewelry. The designers take inspiration from their everyday lives; the people they encounter, their memories and travels, are translated into their pieces – each of which has its own story. With a light, refined aesthetic at the forefront of every design, they believe that jewelry has the power to become entwined with the self, with each piece gradually becoming part of the person who wears it. Alchemy is the art of transforming one substance into another, of transmuting a common metal into gold; it is the power to create something magical, spiritual and eternal. Alchemists spent centuries in secrecy, experimenting in their laboratories with metals, with stones, wine various substances and with the elements. Atelier VM is an alchemical laboratory where a ring, a stone, a bracelet, a good luck charm become a moment, a feeling, a memory, a season, a person. Jewels that somehow materialize the intangible gifts of life and that once made and worn, grow with us and take on the shape of our fingers and necks, absorb our experiences and protect us along the way. This is our little alchemical secret. Since 1998, Marta Caffarelli and Viola Naj Oleari have been the soul of Atelier VM.

Trims are often left unfinished – raw, exposed and rough around the edges, which only enhances the natural charm of this minimal and functional collection.
ANNA SHEFFIELD – Anna Sheffield works within the parameters of classical fine jewelry – making elegant engagement and wedding rings from gold, silver and glittering diamonds – but brings in a healthy dose of personality and innovation to each design. Ever-loved for its innovative use of cutting-edge technology and fabrics to express dark emotion and sexuality, today’s collections remain true to this aesthetic of gothic refinement. Ann Demeulemeester – one of the renowned Antwerp Six – finds inspiration between the duality of shadow and light and creates collections that are nothing short of poetry. Evoking serenity and romanticism with a rock-inspired edge, the Belgian-based brand continues Demeulemeester’s dark, rebellious narrative with current artistic director Sebastian Meunier’s seductive awareness of the body. Expect languid silhouettes, deconstructive detailing and androgynous sensibilities.
ANISSA KERMICHE – Cult Paris-born, London-based designer Anissa Kermiche brings a signature sense of style to all her creations. Spanning across the disciplines, her pieces share a witty and elegant design logic – blending modern art inspirations with a clean, contemporary spirit. Anissa is that rare combination of analytical mind with creative soul. Raised in Paris by strict parents, she earned a degree in engineering, but always had the dream to create jewelry. Her rebellious and independent spirit bubbled to the surface and she escaped to pursue jewelry design in London. In her creations, poetry, elegance and sensuality meet geometry, construction and empowerment. Lamps transform to earrings, paintings to textures and sculptures to neckpieces. Provocative, confrontational and irresistible, Anissa’s pieces break convention in original and eclectic compositions that are nothing short of breathtaking, yet radiate kick-ass attitude.
ANDREA MAACK – Transforming niche fragrance as we know it, multi-disciplinary artist Andrea Maack’s brand is an embodiment of her artistic explorations and her life in Iceland. Each design is handcrafted from 18 carat gold and recycled metals by artisans in California and New York. Elegant, distinctive and exquisitely made, Andrea Fohrman’s jewelry is built to last.
ANDERSON’S – Unusually for an Italian label, belt-maker Anderson’s openly takes inspiration from British style (its name even comes from Savile Row legend Anderson and Sheppard, just down the road from us) – and a good thing too, as the world’s tow great centers for tailoring work quite nicely together. Founded in Parma in 1966, the family-run label manufactures all of its products by hand at a small factory in the city. AMELIORATE – Ameliorate was born out of its founder Annette Luck’s desire to create a remedy for Keratosis Pilaris – a condition causing the skin to be dry and bumpy – that was both effective and a pleasure to use. Working closely with skincare experts, she achieved that in the Transforming Body Lotion. Since then, Ameliorate has continued to develop highly effective skin smoothing and softening products that are beloved by beauty experts, bloggers and customers. AMELIORATE works by progressively resurfacing bumpy skin until it is smooth whilst intensely moisturizing it. AMEDEI – This excellence has emerged due to Cecilia Tessieri’s love of chocolate and dedication to her vision. It all began with an idea and a desire to find the world’s best cocoa bean in order to produce the most exquisite chocolate possible. A deep passion for chocolate and devotion to work, together with a continual search for perfection, have all factored into making Amedei what it is today. In order to produce an exceptional chocolate it is necessary to closely follow the many stages involved in the manufacturing of chocolate. This is exactly what Cecilia Tessieri, founder of Amedei, courageously set out to do. Amedei seeks out the best plantation and cocoa beans, the most authentic “Cru” and works with agricultural expertise and environmental consciousness. Great attention to detail and desire for excellence has earned Amedei the Chocolate Academy of London’s prestigious “Golden Bean” award in the “bean to bar”. Just kill honed by long years of study and the inventiveness of people dedicated to their mission, to make the world a little sweeter, one bar at a time.
ALLY CAPELLINO – A uniquely British kind of brand, Ally Capellino makes elegant, practical and highly individual bags – often delightfully named for frontbench politicians – that are loved by a dedicated fan base. Headed up by its irreverent founded Alison Lloyd, Ally Capellino has mischief in its DNA. The brand is less interested in fashion’s season-to-season schedule and more interested in surprising collaborations, like a partnership with Tate, the design of Girl Guides and Brownie uniforms and a project with London’s first Ace Hotel. Satchels, totes and rucksacks for men and women who like their design to come without dictates. That’s the backbone of Ally Capellino, the accessories label so unlike your average fashion brand that, in the beginning, its name was never even intended to stick. A renegade from the outset founder Alison Lloyd’s debut collection to T-shirts sent up the 1980 Moscow Olympics scandal. After heading up young British design during that decade, her characterful classics have since brought her label international acclaim and cult status among like-minded customers. More than 30 years on, Ally Capellino accessories have taken their place on the global stage, reliant not on trends, but on timelessness and quality of design and discreetly representative of a discerning type of modern consumer. Lloyd’s faithful fans return time and again not for this season’s it-bag, but for unassuming and expertly made pieces that fit into their urban existence. An iconoclastic sense of fun and witty irreverence abides in bags named for Cabinet, Conservative and New Labor politicians and in the brand’s quintessentially British outlook. Numerous global stockists, two London shops, a collaboration with the city’s first Ace Hotel, a long running Artists range for Tate and 2010’s major retrospective at the Wapping Project mark Ally Capellino as one of the UK’s most successful homegrown brands. Not only that, but there is an integrity to the range, with production and practicality as high up on Alison Lloyd’s list as aesthetics. British design and waxed cotton, Italian veg tanned leather and attention to detail make up the unique mix of quirk and quality that is Ally Capellino.
