A.P.C. – Described as outwardly normal, yet quietly subversive, A.P.C. A.W.A.K.E. – Veteran fashion editor Natalia Alaverdian’s first venture into design did not come without high expectations. In 2012, she delivered with a precocious, conceptual label A.W.A.K.E. (All Wonderful Adventures Kindle Enthusiasm) that counts Japanese art and the animal kingdom among its abstract references. Despite its ambitiousness, A.W.A.K.E. clothing is super wearable – think must-have deconstructed shirts, tailored winter coats and sculptural cocktail dresses. A.W.A.K.E. an acronym for All Wonderful Adventures Kindle Enthusiasm, was founded in 2012 by Natalia Alaverdian. Alaverdian’s unique eye for fashion was developed during her multifaceted career, which has included styling, art direction and photography. Her goal with A.W.A.K.E. apparel is to create a personal voice through clothing. The key reference that connect each timeless A.W.A.K.E. design are specific animal characters from art and film, giving each piece an idiosyncratic quality with subtle references to Japanese culture.
Ace & Jig – Throughout their many years collaborating a fashion brand, friends and coworkers Cary Vaughn and Jenna Wilson spent a lot of time bonding over a mutual love of antique textiles and how it would someday play into their own line. Enter Ace & Jig, the fabric-focused collections they launched in 2009. Centered around on one-of-a-kind materials sourced from India, Ace & Jig clothing is packed with playful, personality-filled pieces-think slouchy shifts, the striped Ace & Jig Heather Top and graphic tanks – guaranteed to elevate both your outfit and mood. Acler – Australian designers Kathryn Forth and Julia Ritorto formed Acler in 2015, rejecting cookie-cutter design techniques and bringing the fashion process back to its tactile roots. Over the course of a year, each piece is sculpted unto its ultimate form through redraping and reworking along the way. Acler clothing combines feminine style with androgynous shapes, resulting in a balanced collection that celebrates meticulous construction and refined minimalism.
Acne Studios – Acne Studios was introduced in 1996 as a creative collective by way of Stockholm, dedicated to innovations in graphic design, advertising and film. But when Acne cofounder Johnny Johansson released a wildly popular run of limited edition raw denim a year later, he saw potential for expansion into ready-to-wear and accessory lines. AMO – Veteran designers Kelly Urban and Misty Zollars (formerly of Joie and Current/Elliott, respectively) set out to create a line of vintage-looking denim with modern fits. In 2015, they debuted AMO jeans, which is named for the Latin word for love and nods to the founders’ shared passion for perfect pairs. In addition to offering flattering, wear-everywhere styles, the collection – which ranges from straight-leg jeans to high-rise flares – is made stateside from start to finish in Los Angeles. Named with a nod to the designer’s love for denim, AMO apparel is deeply rooted in a passion for quality. In 2014, self-professed denim soul mates Kelly Urban and Misty Zollars launched the brand, determined to construct jeans that got better with longtime wear. Focusing its vision on blending vintage details with a modern sensibility, AMO denim offers a fresh take on classic design, striking a balance of rugged utility and effortless femininity.
